Safedomain.net e-mail FAQ

* Please note the following section applies only for e-mail for your domain's e-mail accounts if you have e-mail for your domain hosted by Safedomain.net or Artists Hosting (artistshost.com):

You can also read the "How To" guides for each of the following e-mail programs:

Q. What POP3 server should I use to receive (incoming) e-mail?
A. All customers are given an incoming e-mail server address when their account is first set up. It is usually mail.<enteryourfulldomainname>. i.e., if your domain was mydomain.com then your incoming e-mail server would be mail.mydomain.com.

Please note that some customers hosted on older servers may also use "mail.safedomain.net" as their POP3 (Incoming - receiveing e-mail) server address. You should have received an e-mail when your account was first set up that had this information in it. If you cannot locate the e-mail with the server address, then try your domain name server address first and then the mail.safedomain.net server address. If neither works then please contact [email address protected by javascript] support.

Q. What SMTP server should I use to send (outgoing) e-mail?
A. All customers are given an outgoing e-mail server address when their account is first set up. It is usually smtp.<enteryourfulldomainname>. i.e., if your domain was mydomain.com then your outgoing e-mail server would be smtp.mydomain.com. If you are using your domain's smtp server for outoging e-mail i.e., smtp.<enteryourfulldomainname> then you must enable SMTP Authentication in your E-mail client for your outgoing e-mails)

Please note that some customers hosted on older servers may need to use your ISP's SMTP mail server, unless you have made *special arrangements with Safedomain.net to use our SMTP servers or if Safedomain.net is your ISP. Examples of ISP SMTP servers follow:

Your ISP

Their SMTP (Outgoing e-mail server)

Telus mail.telus.net
Shaw Cable shawmail
Safedomain.net mail.safedomain.net
Safedomain.net* mail.safedomain.net (under special arrangements)

Please note that if you use a router (and you should be using a router) and your ISP is Shaw Cable, then you may have to aquire a different SMTP server address from Shaw Cable.

You should have received an e-mail when your account was first set up that contained your smtp server information in it. If you cannot locate the e-mail with the server address, then try your domain name server address first and then your ISP, and lastly the mail.safedomain.net server address. If none of them works then please contact [email address protected by javascript] support.

Q. What IMAP server should I use to send and receive e-mail?
A. All customers should use "mail.safedomain.net" as their IMAP server address.

Q. Can I access my e-mail with a web interface (web-mail)?
A. Yes, you can access your e-mail from any Internet browser in the world through our web-mail interface at the following URL : http//mail.safedomain.net.

Q. What Name do I enter in the Safedomain.net Login on the web-mail page?
A. You should have been assigned a prefix code when your web-mail was setup. Enter your prefix code in front of your e-mail address without your domain name. For example, if your e-mail address was fred@anydomainname.com and your prefix was 'ad_' then the Name to enter would be 'ad_fred'.
